About the Company

Anton Pray had been in the potato business
for some time, when a subsidy was being offered on trucks going to Saint John (East).
His potato company, A.L. Pray & Sons, did not qualify to take part in the program, and New Denmark Trucking Co.
was formed as a result.
The subsidies dropped over years, to
being phased out completely, although the Prays decided to keep N. D. Trucking because they also had a chemical business within
A. L. Pray & Sons. They stored the chemicals in the same potato house as
they did the potatoes, until there was a big spill in Nova Scotia and insurance companies decided to no longer insure potato
companies under those circumstances.
The chemicals were moved to a new structure
that N. D. Trucking built. The business has grown and is now a large Maritime
distributor, supplying all chemical products that farmers need to grow potatoes and grain.
The trucking comping was established
by Anton Pray, his son Steve Pray and son in law John Kukurski. John moved back to New Denmark after living in Inuvik (NWT)
for seven years. John manages N D Trucking and it has proven to be a very successful joint venture.
Prior to joining the A L Pray & Son Potato Company, John Kukurski co-owner and manager, who
is married to Antoin's Daughter (Susan), was employed as an engineer in electrical steam generating in Inuviik NWT. They returned
to New Denmark in 1986 with their son Ben who was 8 years old at the time. John is a co-owner of A L Pray and Son and New
Denmark Trucking and he manages the New Denmark (ND) Trucking division.
ND Trucking is a distribution company and warehouses chemicals for a number of companies two of which are United
Agro Products and Green Way. ND Trucking services the area from Fredericton to the Quebec and US border of Maine and will
deliver products within this area.
ND Trucking Ltd has been growing modestly over the years. They retail to the potato industry and work hard to supply
the small fruit and vegetable growers around the area. The integration of the two companies, A L Pray & Son and ND Trucking
has worked well for the industry.
